Water and Sky

I have been attracted lately by photos of water and sky.  These two features of the environment, whether separate or together, provide infinite variation and beauty.

This blog post zeroes in on two aspects of water and sky which attract me greatly ... luminosity and color.  Because water is often a reflective surface (not always if it is roiled), it can have great and highly varied luminosity and the luminosity is not the same across all its surface because it is not flat.

Color and luminosity are also related, the saturation of the color becomes less as the surface becomes more luminous.  Often a color goes to white in a highly reflective subject.  Hues of water and sky are also interesting and vary greatly.  As a hand-colorist of photos, I often make changes in the hues of water and sky to engender the feelings I had when taking the photo.

Here are a few examples of my new water/sky photos.
